On view are 18 framed photographs, six wall pieces and a film installation by Cooper & Gorfer, a photography duo based in Gothenburg, Sweden, made up of two women: American artist Sarah Cooper and ABOUT COOPER & GORFER Sarah Cooper (Pittsburgh, USA) and Nina Gorfer (Vienna, Austria) met in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2005 while studying their master, sparking their collaborative work and creative partnership. Gothenburg became their studio – an incubator of ideas. Sarah Cooper, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Nina Gorfer, born in Vienna, met while studying design at the University of Gothenburg's Academy of Design and Crafts. Since they began COOPER & GORFER SWEDEN. The works of Cooper & Gorfer belong to a narrative tradition within photography, with roots in 18th and 19th century paintings. Their staged photographs hold distinct reference to history, myths and cultural heritage. Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer are choreographers behind their images.
